Dhuri, June 12:

As part of the Punjab Government’s ongoing ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ campaign being carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, special awareness vehicles were flagged off today from the Chief Minister facilitation Centre, Dhuri, with the objective of strengthening public participation in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

These awareness vehicles have been fitted with dedicated complaint boxes through which citizens can confidentially provide information regarding drug traffickers operating in their areas, as well as details of individuals suffering from drug addiction so that they may be connected with free treatment and rehabilitation facilities provided by the Government.

Flagging off the vehicles, Rajwant Singh Ghuli, Chairman of Market Committee Dhuri and In-charge of the Chief Minister facilitation Centre, said that the Punjab Government is committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from society. He urged people to come forward and actively support the campaign by sharing information about drug-related activities without any fear, assuring them that their identity would be kept strictly confidential and that legal action would be taken against those involved in drug trafficking.

He further stated that drug addiction has adversely affected numerous families and that the Government is making consistent efforts not only to take stringent action against drug peddlers but also to ensure proper treatment and rehabilitation of individuals affected by substance abuse.

On this occasion, Constituency Coordinator of the ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ campaign Rachhpal Singh Bhullar, said that awareness programmes have been continuously organised across villages and urban wards of the Dhuri constituency for the past one year. He said that the campaign has received an encouraging response from the public and that strict action has been initiated against those involved in the illegal drug trade.

He added that the awareness vehicles would visit every village and ward to collect confidential inputs from the public, which would be forwarded to senior police officials and the Chief Minister’s Office to facilitate timely and effective action against drug traffickers.

Appealing to the people, Rachhpal Singh Bhullar said that a drug-free and healthy Punjab can only be achieved through the collective efforts of the Government and society, and urged every citizen to become an active partner in this movement.

Among those present on the occasion were Constituency Vice Coordinator Harpreet Singh Gill, Block Coordinator Gaurav Sharma, Director Anil Mittal, Manjit Sharma, Harvinder Singh, Councillor Rajiv Verma, Ashwini Dhir, Manish Kumar, Bhupinder Singh, village Sarpanches, representatives of various social organisations and a large number of local residents.
